Burr! it’s cold being back in London, swapping shorts and a tee shirt for, hat and gloves was never going to be an easy transition to make, but being home with the family kicks all those minor worries into touch, plus being back in the hubbub of London is great, full of exciting opportunities and cool stuff. Down in Shoreditch to drop off the hard drive with all our four weeks work on from the Portuguese trip, I caught the last day of a “Street Art” / “Graffiti” show called the White Canvas project, they are moving the show to Dalston and reopening in a few weeks in the same building as Beyond Retro, I’ll shoot some images and post them soon. In the mean time here are some more backlit garden images from the last few weeks in the sun…………
End of week 3 in Portugal, went out with the whole crew last night for steak on a stone in Moncarapacho, apparently a very Portuguese way of eating steak and it was delicious I would highly recommend it as an experience, joining a well deserved day off today, just about to go out for lunch and then to the beach for a lie down to recharge the batteries for another week of location shooting in the fantastic gardens that Penny has found for us, the above image at the garden of the location we all call the red house, I have given this shots the title of Olive in the morning, more garden pictures coming soon………
I am really getting excited about the trip to NYC in July, and so can’t stop thinking about some of my favourite New Yorkinteriors which I have photographed on previous trips, this one belongs to the interior decorator & blogger Nick Olsen, I have always loved these images and the have been a fixture in my interior folio for some time now, so apologies to those of you who have seen them before, later this autumn they will be appearing in a new book along with some more of my photography, more on that later. Check out Nick’s blog here for more tips on decorating in small spaces, still lining up shoot projects for the trip so give me a call if you need something doing in the Big Apple …..
well there isn’t any doubt that trees laden with pretty blossom makes one feel better, it’s one of many signs that the cold months will soon be behind us once more, the same is certainly true for me walking to and from the studio where I am currently shooting a massive interior photography project for a big UK retailer, we are at the beginning of week three of a five week schedule. yesterday on my way home I saw a couple walking along in front of me, he was pretty tall and she was fairly small, nothing strange so far I hear you say, but as they stopped to admire the flowers above he reached up and bent down a low bough to pick some of the pretty blooms for her, romance is alive and well in the streets of london, hope your enjoying the signs of spring on your travels too ………….
new gloves added to my project page In Memory of, we saw these desperate lost souls on a walk inepping forest, they are pair but, not a pair if you know where I am going with this thought process, maybe they where belonging to a couple out walking holding hands without their respective gloves on, one appears to be a mans glove and the other could be a womans, hopefully as the walked home they managed to keep each others hands warm until a replacement could be found. Or not it could all be a chance meeting under the trees, for the gloves that is ………… it’s just that I am romantic at heart so a happy ending is always the preferred option for me, more soon,
Here are two images which I shot for Dulux Colour Futures, see the rest of the project here. I just recently added these images to my Advertising Folio and then a few days later was happy to see that Elle Deco UK had decided to use the left hand image to open their decorating section of the April issue, if I may say they definitely have a sense of calm which I really am proud of, but I can’t take all the credit for that, both Mother Nature for lighting and the ever talented Hannah Simmons styling deserve equal billing, and of course Dulux for brave use of paint, an example below. Which in these days of Adobe making all things possible we collectively decided to do this one for real, in camera, thanks to James Henderson (set builder) had to make it happen, which took a bit of time, but it was worth it, hope you agree……………..
well we have some tech problems at the moment, the result is that the images from the older posts have gone walk about in cyber space, normal service should be restored just as soon as we can wade through the error and html code to find the gremlin responsible
more inspiration from Berlin, I saw this Photomat on the roundabout @ Kottbusser Tor on the way to shoot Lizzy’s apartment on our last day shooting in Berlin, I especially loved the examples of what one could achieve using this remarkable piece of photo equipment, goes to show that with any camera the possibilities are endless
Today is the last day of our trip to Berlin I have been here now for 4 days shooting new unseen interiors with Victoria Metcalf from Style NV, the images will soon be ready to be seen when I am back in Londonso check back in the next few weeks and they will be here to view in the sites newest development a PDF gallery of homes which I have shot for publication. While we are awaiting that to happen I thought I would post these images from East Berlin which is fast disappearing, a huge ammount of development is happening and so much has changed since I was last here shooting for Esprit about 5 years ago. You must come before it’s all gone, check out Visit Berlin who have been really helpful while we have been here, get a guide book and get here soon………
